Re: Speak easy
Well, since we can talk about politics here, I'm quite puzzled by McCain's choice for veep. They were obviously looking for a young, female conservative but why her? If that's the best they can come up with then either there are almost no female conservative politicians besides her, or the other ones had even LESS experience in politics.
Did anyone else notice she was on an oil board? At least we know where her loyalties are.

yeah, she is the Republican's bait for Hillary supporters. That's the long and short of it. It's sad that they can't put the best choice ahead of the most attractive choice, but that seems to be politics these days.

Re: Speak easy
I'm in advanced math, so my freshmen year I'm doing Algebra II, and I'm honestly scared. I HATE Algebra, just because it's so tedious, and there are so many things that can go wrong, and DO go wrong.
Re: Speak easy
When they stopped teaching history and geography and started teaching "social studies" I knew the world was going to hell in a bucket.
Much more pressing on my mind right now is the dentist appointment for which I should be getting ready. Bah.

I'm lucky not to have had any dental work to date, and not a single cavity, etc. I have a feeling that that will not last into colloge though... Hey, who likes the new banner? Thank Elizadolots for me.

I like the new banner. Remember: only floss the teeth you want to keep.

I just got a bigger banner from Eliza, so feast your eyes... not so sure on the teeth... JK
well...on the Palin issue
I think she completely fails as "bait" for the Hillary supporters. In fact, I think she's going to drive those who had already decided to sink Obama so Hillary could run again in 2012 away. It's insulting to suggest that this woman, who's views are so radically different from Mrs. Clinton's should be supported just because she's a woman. I talked to 3 very insulted former Clinton supporters yesterday.

Re: Speak easy
But, did you listen to her speech at the RNC? It was pretty awesome; what's the difference between a pitbull and a hockey mom? Lipstick. Great stuff, although I have no idea of her record up nort' der hey.
Re: Speak easy
ha ha! you have braces... yeah, almost every kid in my school has had braces at some point... except me
Re: Speak easy
She gives a great speech..no question. Her time as a sports reporter for a TV station helped her and obviously, she's naturally outgoing and engaging.
However, she didn't write that speech (one of my bosses is very high up in the Republican party and he told me that she hadn't written the speech because he knows the speechwriter ) and she carries quite a bit of baggage with her (having tried to get her local library to ban a poopload of books, including the Potter series for example).

The greatest thing in the world would be a magic chart that shows all candidates' true feelings and beliefs, without bias. would make things a lot easier.

See, if you had a magic chart, Sarah Palin would likely declare it "the work of the devil" and try to have it banned. Magic is against God and so magic, even in a fantasy, is bad. (that's the thinking)

Re: Speak easy
oh my... does someone have a tribble in their bonnet? Just kidding. I hate censoring too, but really, just how much would she be able to do about it as VP?
Re: Speak easy
Likely more than she was able to do as mayor of a tiny town in Alaska. More importantly, if the Vice President is espousing the view that libraries should, in fact, ban books based on "community preferences" then that idea will get taken up by more people and might well start to happen.

Re: Speak easy
we didn't have 1984 in our school library... I was immediately suspicious... they don't want us catching on their ways...
